So my animation is finally done. A little later than everyone else's which I feel bad about. Semester 2 started well enough. I was well prepared and I had the right mind set to go about my animation. When production did start, I started to draw but I gradually felt that my drawing wasn't that effective so I lost a lot of confidence. Week by week I'd attempt to draw more but at the beginning I mainly concentrated on the crowd scene and I spent a large amount of work and time on that which I now realise and wished I'd spent the rest of the animation working in that manner.
Unfortunely when holidays rolled around I fell sick and did not produce much work at all and thus fell much behind schedule. I was unmotivated and had lost a lot of drive to work on my animation. However once I got back to school, I continued to work hard and managed to get a deferred assessment from my teachers.
I'm very grateful at the help of my teachers this year, in particular Jack as he'd had helped all of us with our animation. My only regret is not completing the animation early enough so I could've asked for more help when I had the chance. I think one of my downfalls is time management. I feel like I managed that fairly poorly this year and feel like I should've worked even harder knowing that this was my major. I don't think my animation is all that flashy and some things wasn't how I imagined it in my head. A few things I had to change like the ending due to time running out. But I think I'm happy with the ending anyway.
I think my classmates has been pretty supportive and especially Cara who has been very encouraging and helping me with great advices.
One of the positive things I like about my animation is the colouring of the characters. I feel like I made the right decision with the transition from black and white to colour. One of my weaknesses may be with poses and weights too. I think I need a lot more practice with that. Jack has taught me a great loads with walk cycles and I feel like I walked away with a better knowledge of them which I'm very grateful for. The crowd walk cycle I'm very happy. However the one with Lily walking towards Timmy took a long time and it did seem fine until I put it in AfterEffects and it just sped right up and I didn't know how to slow her down.
All in all, I think I could've put even more effort into my animation but I'm happy with what I've made. I think in the future I would definitely like to explore After Effects more as I really enjoyed working on this program. I'm not too certain at my ability being a good animator but I would like to improve on that in the future.

another quick update
just wanted to upload the opening crowd scene which i've spent the most time on and im ubber proud of it. i think its the only cool shot that i have in my animation because i don't have any other fancy camera work in other scenes or anything. anywho here it is :)
also i have animated another few shots and i don't know, i don't feel like i have a knack for animating... just can't get poses right and stuff. just movements and weights in general i think. i lack those skills. however i am enjoying colouring a lot using the tablet.
Me and Cara are heading to school early tomorrow to record all the sound effects and voices for my animation.
um i tried to upload the video and i left it on my computer for like an hour and its still saying 'uploading video' so i'm taking that it doesn't want to be uploaded... i'll just have to leave it then... bummer. (just tried uploading again. and fail. i give up)

this got me pretty pumped and im excited to finally animate in aftereffects.
This week I got a couple shots done and its going pretty well. Still got a lot more to animate but I feel like its finally coming along.
Also I managed to get the music for the animation with Jack's help. I've also still got to finalise the sound effects as well.

just a quick update
I just wanted to post a picture that I've just coloured in photoshop.
All together this image has 5 layers which are the body and feet, bag, bag flip, right and left arm. This is so I can animate it in AFX. This is also my scheme to colour Timmy which is black and white until he gradually meets Lily when colours will be slowly introduced to him.
And also freaking out!!!!!! Much to colour and animate!!! I have applied for an extention but that is still a week without teacher's tuition! Doomnation!!!!!!!!!!!!! No sleep and food thanks. No actually I may neeeeed food to charge my battery.

Week 11 and 12
Ok so this is what's being happening. I have been sick for 3 weeks especially during the holidays. Unfortunely I didn't get as much done as I had planned due to that reason and I have fallen behind lots and I am freaking outttttt! I am still in the stage of completing the drawings which I should have completed by now because I still have to colour them. I've overlooked all the shots with Huni this week and we've worked out what shots I can animate in AFX so I don't have to draw all the frames to save time drawing. By this stage I think I've drawn perhaps 60% of the drawing and by this weekend I'd like to at least have it 90% done. I need to borrow the animation bible from the school's library because theres another walk cycle I have to do for Lily when she walking towards Timmy.
And also with the colouring scheme, I had originally planned to have Timmy black and white at the start and he will gradually build colour as Lily approaches him. And by the time him and Lily walk off in the end, he will be fully coloured. This is to show he is comfortable with his self and he has found a friend in Lily and he no longer feels anonymous. I still plan on using this for my colouring for Timmy.

Production week 9 and 10
I have been completing the crowds walk cycle. Animating them a little differently to each other, such as the wobble in the dot womans walk, extra bounce in the kids walk. I have drawn a little more for Timmy's animation but I think I've been falling behind in drawing. This is largely due to my lack of confidence that my drawings are portraying the right moves and poses. I think its the key poses are I'm most worried about and whether they are portraying the intended emotions. But I'm just going to try my best and absolutely get all the drawings done in the holidays. If I get time I'd like to come into school and get them coloured them as well. So thats my aim for the holidays, getting all the drawings done.

Production Week 8
The crowds are coloured! Yeepee

And I'm colouring three different line arts so they give a flickering look. Jack has shown me the most awesome stuff on After Effects where I can put these bodies onto the walk cycle I did and make it their own e.g more wobbling, bouncy etc. Unfortunely I didn't get a chance to render what Jack has shown me so far with the walk cycle of dotted dress lady. I shall do that next week and definitely try and finish the other crowds too.
